Supplying Files to Imprint Press:
BROAD GUIDELINES FOR THE CUSTOMER FOR SENDING FILES FOR PRINTING
Format:
- We prefer PDF that should be centralized and single page PDF to be Press optimized. We need single page pdf and not double spread pdfs.
- File format should be mentioned clearly.
- Ensure that images are in TIFF format with a resolution of greater than 300 DPI and match the final required print size. All colored text and images should be in the CMYK color mode, not RGB.
- Do not use TIFF format for logos or text content.
- All pictures / Tiff manipulations should be done in Photoshop only.
- Ensure that crop marks remain outside the image area.
- When handling Black & White jobs, please use grayscale images for the pictures.
Layout:
- Ensure that the page size matches the specified publication trim size.
- Ensure that there is a minimum 4mm page bleed extending beyond the trim on all sides of the page.
- Safety margins: Type and other non-bleed content must clear the trim area by 18mm minimum.
- Page marks: pages should only contain crop marks. Color bars or other marks are not needed.
- Black text and lines must be set to overprint.
- All text should be in Vector Format.
- To provide text files and pictures for scanning/corrections, we need the Application files with all links and all font families preferably in zipped folder.
Font:
- Font type: Type 1 fonts are recommended. Type 3, Multiple Master and composite/CID should be avoided.
- Embedding: All fonts should be fully embedded.
- TEXT/ LINE:
- Character styles: when possible, avoid menu-stylized.
- Character size: Minimum 6 point is recommended for reverse or multi-color type.
- LINE/ RULE WIDTH:
- Minimum width for single-color line/rule is 0.25 point.
- Minimum width for overprinting or multi-color rule is 0.33 point.
- Minimum width for reverse line/rule is 0.5 point.
